At The Ridge, we feel it is incredibly important for children to understand that what they are learning can be applied to real life and can shape their future. One of the ways in which we do this is by running a STEM week once a year. The children work on a project over a week, using a variety of skills and knowledge that they have gained in Science, Computing, DT and Maths in order to create an end product. Each year group has a different focus and the children enjoy moving around the school at the end of the week, looking at each other's work.
Children also have the opportunity to meet inspirational members of the real STEM community, learning about their career paths, the roles they play and the skills that are required to do work.
We also transform into the Ridge STEM Gallery where parents are invited to tour around the school (led by our museum tour guides) to see not only what their own child has created but what others have also been working on.
This year's STEM week will be held on Monday 6th- Friday 10th January. Our gallery will be
held on the afternoon of Friday 10th January and we would love to see as many visitors as possible.
