Reading At Home

7 Top Tips to support reading at home at KS2

We feel that it is really important for children to read as much as possible. We understand though that access to more books at this time may be difficult. South Glos libraries are once again using a click and collect scheme where you can order the books online and book a time to collect. You can use this link to access the service.

https://library.thenational.academy/ The NLT has recently teamed up with Oak Online Academy to produce a virtual school library with an author of the week as well.

Many authors have also recorded themselves reading their books or have had them read by celebrities so it might be worth having a search for your favourite authors/books to find them.

The RIdge School Library

We are really pleased to be able to reopen our library from Term 2 to allow access to our brilliant collection of books. We are passionate about ensuring that all children can find books that they enjoy and are reading for pleasure .

Your child will be able to reserve up to 3 books on our new online system. Their teacher will show them how to do this and give out their login details and password that they will need. There is also guidance further down this page. The link to the system we use - Libresoft - is also below. We are also encouraging the children to write reviews online of the books they have read to help others choose books as well.

We have also included links on the right hand side of the page to recommended reading lists which we hope will be useful in finding your child's next favourite book.
